Every organisation that wants to run an effective business will undoubtedly aim to structure their teams so that they are capable of working effectively and making a positive difference. As consultants we have to at least assume that to be the case even if a specific organisation we work with hasn’t realised it yet.
It’s 2022 and by now most people working in Software Development will be familiar with the role of a Software Delivery Lead. And while you will have often come across some really nice folk doing the job, most of us will also have experienced a variety of others that we can’t exactly describe as “good”.
What does a Delivery Lead do? I often get asked this question. The answer isn't short or simple. So I decided to write it up here and point people who ask to this article.

Perhaps the best thing about working with so many smart people for Simon was the incredible amount of ideas his team would come up with on a daily basis and the amazing conversations he could have with each and every individual – it felt almost unreal.
